the following child care information has been forwarded by The City of Boston to the BFD Personnel Office for distribution to critical Boston Fire Department employees; please read the information carefully:
In light of the Governor's recent order to cease operations of childcare programs across the state, some locations were approved to operate as Emergency Child Care programs. These providers/locations are listed on the Commonwealth’s Early Education & Care site, and you can find a list of the Boston sites here.
The City of Boston has secured state approval for City Hall Child Care (CHCC) to operate as an emergency childcare program, in order to continue supporting the work of city employees designated as critical. City Hall Child Care is operating as an emergency childcare site for critical City of Boston employees (including Boston Public Health Commission, Boston Police Department, Boston Fire Department, and Boston Water and Sewer Commission). Hours of operation are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. If you are a City of Boston employee designated as essential staff, you will have access to this service free of charge.
The program is located on the fourth floor of City Hall and will operate on a first-come-first-served drop-in basis with a maximum capacity of 40 children, as instructed by the state. Please call ahead at 617-635-3793 to inquire about availability each day. All family members showing up to drop off a child must check in with security on the first floor of City Hall and must present a City-issued identification.
As per EEC's guidance, families should contact an emergency child care program only if they require emergency, back-up, drop-in care. To slow the spread of the coronavirus, families should try to keep children out of group care settings to the greatest extent possible. Emergency Child Care Programs are for when all other non-group-care settings have been exhausted and families have no other options.
CHCC will make every effort to practice social distancing and adhere strictly to all public health guidance issued by the Centers of Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
